Clinical Health Imaging Portability Standards - Veteran Affairs
The CHIPS platform serves as a central hub for the management and processing of phantom scans provided by VA hospitals for the purposes of MRI scanner calibration.
CHIPS strives towards the advancement of 2 major MRI needs for VA radiology.
- Quality Assurance and problem detection on MRI scanners with comprehensive phantom reference measurement to NIST standards
- Calibrated MRI measurement supporting cross vendor and cross time normative medicine of the Veteran over their lifetime.
Platform usage centers around key roles delegated with accomplishing three main tasks:
uploading/downloading of raw phantom data,
pipeline processing of raw data,
analysis of pipeline outputs including measurements and reports.
For MRI Technicians - geared towards uploading/downloading data [1]
For Pipeline Managers - tasked with processing scans through pipeline and managing issues [2]
For Calibration Analysts (coming soon) - assigned the analysis of pipeline results [3]
For Site Managers - oversees [1], [2], and [3] within assigned site.
